October 11, 2021

Hello everyone,
If you haven’t already noticed it was 22 degrees Celsius today. This makes for some great summer activities but not so much for ice making. Our ice maker has informed us that it is much too warm for the ice to be created and it is simply melting so we will have to delay our opening by a bit. We do not know the exact timing but the Executive and Board are meeting next week to discuss and engage the ice maker. We are hoping this only delays us a week or two. This is affecting many other clubs in the area as well.
We will keep everyone informed as information becomes available, please be patient, we are going to curl this year.

The Board and Executive met the evening of the 23rd for almost 3 hours and had much to discuss. Next time you see one of these individuals please thank them as they are doing a lot of work this year to allow everyone to curl.

Yes, we are planning on opening mid October for the season. If you haven’t already registered please contact your convener or an executive member so you can be counted. There are some leagues with low numbers and we are working on making things work.

I can not stress this enough but the rules and protocols put down by the Province and Health Unit must be followed, no exceptions. The fines are substantial and it would jeopardize the entire club. Please bear with us as we start up the club again.

So this is good news, the style of play will be fairly close to normal with some exceptions. We will have much updating in the near future, so please stay tuned.

It is with a heavy heart we share the sudden passing of one of our dear members Angela Hook. Angela volunteered much of her time at the club anywhere help was needed, in the kitchen preparing meals, looking after 50/50 draws, etc. She will be missed by everyone she met. Sending our sincere condolences to her husband Brian and family. https://necrocanada.com/…/angela-barbara-hook…/amp/

Annual General Meeting is on Wednesday August 18, 2021, 7pm at the club. The Agenda will be forthcoming but you can expect Elections and COVID discussion.

Please be aware that current Public Health Guidelines will be in effect for the AGM i.e. mask, sanitizer and physical distancing.
